Key notes from today's Periscope:
- Suffering from burnout puts a strain on not only ourselves but also our relationships.
- Burnout causes us to disengage from those around us
- #busybossbabes become #busybossbitches!
- You may not recognise the effect your struggles are having on your loved ones too
- Reflect on your relationships, can you identify any recent circumstances that you feel may have been caused by your stress levels?
- Ask yourself: When as the last time you spent quality time with your loved ones? Quality time where you have fully been present and engaged?
- Often it is those around us who help us to recognise our burnout behaviour is not normal
- Show gratitude for their love and patience whenever possible
- Apologise if you think your burnout experience has caused you to behave inappropriately towards loved ones
ACTION STEPS
- Tell people around you how you are feeling and set some boundaries for the following few weekends
- Cancel social engagements and instead, put aside time to just do NOTHING! I mean, sit on the couch and watch re-runs of Sex And The City!
- When you STOP and take a day or two to just chill, your brain is forced to start slowing down, allowing you to reflect and reset your thoughts.
- Continue to prioritise yourself and book in weekends of couch time to ensure your brain is getting sufficient rest
- Get yourself a Hammock! They are shamze! :)
